This paper provides an explanation of basic microbiological and immunological principles regarding infections. We particularly focus on respiratory viral infections in light of the current COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus) pandemic and the chain of infection that facilitates spread between individuals.
We provide a list of simple personal measures each person can adopt to limit the chance of contracting the disease. These principles also apply to many other potential conditions.
